First Firing
First Firing

By evening the kiln was ready for firing. The opening has been closed, the wood fired, and the whole thing took about four hours. Of course the kiln is left for 24 hours for the cooling down. A bi-product of the firing is about 25 kilos of charcoal which can be used for the cooking fires.
